Description: Ann Elizabeth Chan recalls leaving Manhattan's Chinatown and moving to Long Island in the 1950s with her husband and brother. The family is met with rising property costs as well as restrictive housing covenants. Ann and her family do manage to locate a decent size house in the Long Island suburb of New Hyde Park.
