Browne Family Miscellaneous Documents
Description: The names mentioned most frequently are Captain Francis Browne, evidently owner of two sloops, Hannah Browne, wife of the captain, and Flora Browne (Breese or Brosses), relationship unknown. Most documents are dated in the l760s, with a few somewhat earlier or later. Most are bills, some of them receipted, and there are only a few letters. No one theme seems to pervade the collection, bills being either for household goods purchased or for dockage expenses for the sloops. The few documents concerning Flora Browne (Breese or Brosses), however, appear to have been bills which she submitted to several individuals covering wool or other materials used for breeches.
