Description: American Hindu leader and educator, Dr. Uma Mysorekar was a practicing obstetrics and gynecology doctor for over 30 years and had offices in Flushing and Elmhurst, Queens. She decided to leave her practice in order to give back to the community. She had been involved with the Ganesh Temple since the beginning of its inception as a member and volunteer, and as she gradually phased out her practice between, she became more actively involved as president of the Hindu Temple Society of North America. This photo was taken on the day of Dr. Mysorekar's oral history interview for the Queens Memory Project.
