Description: Edgar Tinoco immigrated to the United States when he was about 10 years old in the year 2000. He immigrated with his mother, brother, and two sisters. In Mexico, beginning at the age of 7, Edgar found interest in cooking, due in part to necessity. His single mother had to work outside of the home all day and Edgar, the oldest child, had to learn to prepare food for his family. This experience would serve him well once he began to look for work in the US. He moved to Astoria, Queens from Mexico and has been working in the restaurant business since he was 17 years old. He started as a dishwasher, then became a line cook, and is now a Sous chef. He continues to strive for his goal of learning a lot and opening up a few restaurants himself one day.
