Entrance To Addisleigh Park
Description: Addisleigh Park was built in 1900 for the wealthy to experience suburbia. From 1900-1940 there was a legal written contract to only sell to whites and not to blacks. However, this was constantly overlooked as many jazz musicians moved in because of that suburban feel. Addisleigh Park is known today as a Historically Black Community and in 2011 the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission declared it a Landmark.
