Jacob S. Jackson Miscellaneous Documents
Description: This very small collection consists of only 6 documents (all positive photocopies not originals.) The six documents apparently were all issued from the New York State, Secretary of State office. Three are appointments of Jackson as a First Major, a Lieutenant Colonel and a Brigadier General in a Queens County Militia Regiment. These are dated Feb. 6, 1790, Dec. 22, 1795 and June 22, 1803 respectively. The other three documents are appointments as "wreckmaster" "to aid and assist all such Ships and Vessels as may happen to be stranded on the coasts....of Queens". Other individuals besides Jackson are mentioned in these documents. These appointments are dated June 22, 1803, May 29, 1833 and Jan. 29, 1835.
