Description: Jean Bartelt discusses her personal encounters with the crime wave that spread throughout New York City during the economic downturn of the 1970s. Her sister's car was stolen from in front of their home, and Jean herself was mugged in her neighborhood. Although safety has greatly improved since then, Jean notes there have been recent incidents of theft.
