Joan Flowers, Clip 3: Joan Flowers on Education
Description: When her children were school-aged, Joan Flowers moved from Queens to Long Island so they could attend public school there. She attributes their success to the suburban public school system. Her and her husband moved back to Queens once their children were on their own. Flowers supports Mayor DeBlasio's implementation of universal Pre K and his emphasis on education. She also voices support for New York City Schools Chancellor, Carmen Fariña. Flowers stresses the role that teachers play in children's lives and states they are undervalued.
