McGuirl discusses his childhood, the changes in the neighborhood over the past sixty years, and his decision to enter the ministry. He mentions the changes in the Catholic Church both generally and specific to his parish and explains the creation of the parish for Our Lady of Mercy in Forest Hills. He also recounts the last train ride on the Rockaway Beach Branch of the Long Island Railroad and talks about the options for the former rail line.
