During this interview Marie St. Jean explains the traditional ways food is prepared in her family. She speaks of the way traditions are passed down through generations in her family. The time periods that she discusses date back to 1969 through 1982 when she lived in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. She also speaks of her time here in New York from 1982 to the present year, 2012. She also discusses how the influence of her family members has taught her to prepare the traditional meals that have been a part of her family, culture and community for decades.
