Description: Capt. Luke Remsen House - Later owned by Ascan Backus around 1850. Western side of the isolated house on the meadows on the south side of the current 65th Road and east of 112th St. (now park land at Grand Central Parkway in Flushing Meadows). Sole access was by wagon track from Colonial Ave. and 62nd Drive, seven blocks away (see 1852 Dripps Map, 1859 Walling Map and 1873 Beers Map). [Note: barrels for produce and large willow tree, small child in lower left corner, horse in lower right corner.]
