Description: Gates Avenue - Frame houses at old No. 1619 Gates Ave. on the corner of St. Nicholas Ave., followed by 1621 and 1627 Gates Ave. (1627 has a peak roof). These houses may have formerly been No. 2, 4 and 6 Magnolia St., Newtown. The brick six family tenements at the current No. 1671 to 1691 Gates Ave. were probably built by August Bauer. By the 1980's the site of the frame houses was a one story commercial building, a new (2016) four story mixed use development is there now. Photo taken March 1923.
