Description: Metropolitan Avenue - looking south across the cobblestones and streetcar tracks of Metropolitan Ave. to Himrod Street. on the SE corner is the Herring House (1860, 1873), which was later occupied by the Kaiser Family. A group of children are playing on the "Sand Hills" at the side of Himrod St. Andrew Kaiser built a large residence across the road at 55-49 Metropolitan Ave. and had the Herring House demolished in mid 1920's.
