Description: Seymour Schwartz's ship led an armada up to Japan. Schwartz was one of the first men ashore. No one knew what to expect from the local population. Walking in the street, he struck up a friendship with a Japanese teenager, who spoke perfect English and brought him to the mayor's home, where he and his fellow soldiers were entertained. A Japanese launch came aboard his ship to surrender harbor maps. An Army man in a Navy ship, Schwartz wore a different uniform from the other soldiers. As his ship left Japan, it was caught in a typhoon.
