Description: A view of College Point looking southwest toward the East River, taken from the rooftop of the Eagle Hook and Ladder Company No. 1 and Union Hose Company No. 1. The church steeple seen at left is that of the original St. John's Lutheran Church, located on the southwest corner of what is now 22nd Avenue and 123rd Street. That wood-frame church building was demolished in 1912 and replaced by one of brick. The building with the flat-topped mansard roof in the foreground right is John Froehlich's hotel, which was located on the northwest corner of what is now 124th Street and 21st Avenue. The flagpole seen near the center is in a small park.
