Wilson Salto's Anecdotes about his State of Knowledge
Collection: This recording is part of the Queens Memory Collection at the Archives at Queens Library: Wilson Salto

Description: Wilson explains that he originally often found himself in embarrassing encounters in the United States because of his difficulty with the English language. One time he had a problem locating an address when he first arrived here. He goes onto describe the moments of solidarity that occurred when he found his fellow countrymen practicing their local traditions and cultures. He believes that culture loses its significance when people become separated from their places of origin. Thus, he tries his best to keep up with traditions that he learned while living in his original country of Ecuador. Recorded in Spanish.
