Abstract: | This small collection of records is very miscellaneous in composition, extremely fragmentary and consists for all practical purposes of printed items only. More specifically, these consist of a few copies of a Newsletter issued by the Museum; two brochures describing the facilities, and used primarily for membership support recruitments; membership stickers; membership forms; education programs; a few clippings; notices of annual meetings, and brief progress reports; a few letters addressed to Mrs. Harold Daniels a member of the Museum’s Advisory Committee; some miscellaneous items such as two cancelled checks, copies of two other letters, and one or two memos, most of which deal with a special film program title “The Yellow Cruise”. Several duplicates exist. | |

Historical/Biographical Note
The Queens Children’s Museum (official title was the Children’s Museum of the Borough of Queens) opened its doors on April 20, 1936. It was headquartered at 79-09 and 79-11 37th Avenue in Jackson Heights. Evidently, it was not long lived, and probably ceased to function some time in 1939.

Access Restrictions
Open for research without restrictions. Manuscripts are only available in the Archives at Queens Library, please call (718) 990-0770 for hours. Manuscript users will be required to complete the division's Manuscript Usage Form and deposit their photograph identification or Queens Borough Public Library card with a staff member. The identification will be returned to the user after she/he has returned the material. Manuscript users will deposit all their personal items behind the reference desk. Manuscript users must use the division's loose sheets of paper for note taking. To reiterate, no pen of any type is permitted. Paper and a pencil are available upon request. Manuscript users may be required to use special handling procedures depending on the conditions of the material.
