Descriptive Summary

Creator Emmans, Albert
Title Albert Emmans Miscellaneous Documents,
Dates: 1863-1859
Abstract: This extremely small collection of nine documents consists of several manuscript maps or sketches and related documents concerning a farm owned by Albert Emmans. It would seem that there may have been some dispute concerning the same, and that the documents herein, or at least most of them, resulted from trying to resolve the issue. By no means is this clear, however, and perhaps only a sale of land was involved.
Extent: 1 box, .2 cubic feet
Identification: E-6
Location: The material is located in the Archives at Queens Library.

Historical/Biographical Note

Biographical information regarding Albert Emmans has not been researched. Judging from the documents in this collection, he was a resident of Flatlands in Kings County.

Scope and Content Note

This extremely small collection of nine documents consists of several manuscript maps or sketches and related documents concerning a farm owned by Albert Emmans. It would seem that there may have been some dispute concerning the same, and that the documents herein, or at least most of them, resulted from trying to resolve the issue. By no means is this clear, however, and perhaps only a sale of land was involved.

Seven of the nine documents in the collection are dated in the 1850s, especially 1858. They are in some cases rather long and have been folded over and they may be somewhat difficult to read along creases. Two other documents are dated in the 18th century, and presumably have no connection with the later documents, but were simply family documents. One is a rather lengthy legal bill for a court case, the other a subpoena issued by the Chief Justice of the Province of New York.
