Descriptive Summary

Creator Hempstead (N.Y. : Town)
Title Hempstead Town Miscellaneous Real Estate Deeds,
Dates: 1802-1850
Abstract: There are thirteen real estate deeds or related documents in this small collection, these having been gathered together simply because they pertained to land transactions among several individuals in the town. They are in rather poor condition, some of them being illegible in parts. In range of years, they cover various dates in the first half of the 19th century. The names of Pearsall and Combes (Combs) appear most frequently, leading us to believe that perhaps these documents were at one time among the papers of either one of these individuals.
Extent: 1 box, .2 cubic feet
Identification: H-10
Location: The material is located in the Archives at Queens Library.

Historical/Biographical Note

The Town of Hempstead in what is now Nassau County is one of the original old towns of Long Island, Up until the consolidation of New York City in 1898, it formed part of Queens County—thus references to it make mention of that county and not Nassau.
