Scope and Content Note
There are about 50 letters in this collection, virtually all of which are addressed to Mrs. R.C. Talbot-Perkins. All of the dated letters, with one exception, fall within the period, March 4, 1913 to November 3, 1913.One letter, (this item addressed to the Honorable Michael Furst) is dated October 12, 1915.Several letters are undated, but are most likely also for the year, 1913.Letters were addressed to Mrs. Perkins by individuals connected with such organizations as the New York State Woman Suffrage Association, the New York State Federation of Women's Clubs, and the Men’s League for Woman Suffrage.
Perhaps some three or four letters are addressed not to Mrs. R.C. Talbot-Perkins, but rather to Mr. A. Ludlow Perkins or Mrs. A. Ludlow Perkins. A. Ludlow Perkins was Mrs. Talbot Perkins' husband.
The correspondence deals exclusively with the suffragette movement on Long Island generally but more especially, with Kings County. Many are concerned with preparations for a major parade sponsored by women suffrage leaders. Other letters deal with speaking engagements. In no case are copies of replies attached, except in one or two instances, a very brief note concerning final disposition has been written across a letter.
