Historical/Biographical Note

Purcell B. Robertson was a noted land title searcher, genealogist and local historian. Especially in the 1970s he produced a large number of "Profiles” pertaining to the various old towns of Long Island. These were in typescript and were given to the Long Island Historical Society at 128 Pierrepont Street in Brooklyn. The Archives at Queens Library of the Queens Borough Public Library was able to procure photocopies of these typescripts. These "Profiles” dealt with the early settlers of the various towns and provided some genealogical information, and some information on their property and possessions.
