Description: Rita Zuckerman Jaros writes about her childhood on 46th Street in Sunnyside Gardens from 1943 to about 1960 (when she was 19). She describes playing outside with a mixed age group of kids in the street (roller skating, jumping rope, etc.), and feeling safe on their own without supervision; and later as adolescents, going to Manhattan to museums, she also list many of the friends she had at the time. She describes the political split in Sunnyside between Social Democrats and Communists. She talks about the secular the Jewish School of Sunnyside which her father along with Ben Stonehill helped to establish. Rita also describes her later life, going to CUNY, and visiting Sunnyside as an adult.
