Description: A "coal pocket" was a plant equipped for the storage and loading of coal for retail distribution. Wood and Vrooman's distinctive silo stood at the foot of Potter Avenue, next to the Long Island Rail Road tracks, until it was destroyed by fire in 1964. A view of the opposite side of the building can be seen in record anc-000216.
