Description: The dozen or so documents in this collection are either undated or dated 1817, the year, evidently in which a court case developed regarding a provision or provisions in Mr. Brush's will. This related to a former slave of Mr. Brush, James Williams, to whom Brush had granted his freedom and had provided that he (Williams) and another slave, Colin, were to receive all his "wearing apparel or in lieu thereof two hundred dollars each, to be paid out at the discretion of (the) executors…”. The executors of the will were S. Wilkins and L. Bradish.
