Description: New York and Harlem Railroad horsecar #49 is seen here at 4th Avenue and 13th Street, carrying passengers to the 26th St. depot. The company was chartered April 25, 1831, and the first car ran from Prince Street to 14th Street in 1832. This photograph was published on page 343 of Valentine's Manual of Old New York, Volume III, New series, 1919. The caption identifies it as "Collection of Mr. Theo. H. Scheider".
