Description: This very small collection, amount twenty-five pieces dated in 1940, consists essentially of the correspondence between Furness and Miss Jean K. Taylor who was the Chief Reference Librarian of the Queens Borough Public Library. Other correspondence is between Miss Hall and a few directors or members of some historical agencies in Long Island, all of this in reference to aiding Mr. Furness track down some correspondence which Walt Whitman had had with a certain Carlos D. Stuart sometime around 1849. All of the correspondence is in typescript, two or three memoranda carry penciled notations.
