Besides these papers, which form the bulk of the collection, there are some military records which Mr. Bergen acquired while he served in the New York State Militia, as well as various historical documents evidently acquired either as a collector or in the course of researching. These either virtually all pertain to Kings County especially the town of Flatlands. With the exception of several bound volumes, the collection consists of loose papers.
