Description: Helene Schlesinger describes going back to graduate school at Queens College in 1966, and then began her teaching career in 1971. She taught reading, and then taught 5th and 6th grade. Then she taught Special Education for 10 years. She got her second masters degree in Special Education at Adelphi. When Special Ed classes where going to be eliminated, her principal asked her to stay, and she taught 3rd grade for the rest of her career.
