Description: Monsignor John McGuirl discusses his childhood in Forest Hills, Queens, which was more like a small town at the time. He recalls the nearby farm and the open spaces that are now taken up by apartment buildings and the like, as well as the trolley cars that would run on Metropolitan Avenue. Msgr. McGuirl also notes the social stratification that was prevalent when he was growing up and is thankful that the privilege aspect of his neighborhood has been lost.
