Description: Sid was born in Colombia and moved to the US when he was still a child – he has been here for 27 years. He works as an Emergency Medical Technician with New York City Fire Department, which he says involves everything from picking up drunks to cardiac arrests and severe trauma jobs. He also volunteers as an EMT in Suffolk County where he lives (he says a lot of Colombians are moving to that area). He prefers the system in Long Island where the work of emergency medical technicians is broader, including fire fighting, rescue and ambulance first aid.
