Description: Ms. Tirado says her sister never really felt discrimination besides not being able to buy a house on the other side of Northern Boulevard. When they went to the Prospect Theater to see the movie West Side Story, they witnessed the crowd booing the Puerto Rican gang and cheering for the Italian gang. Ms. Tirado was one of three Hispanic students in her school which was difficult, but she says she adapted.
