Description: In the summer of 1971, after Norma and Robert Lee moved their family to Laurelton, Queens, they soon noticed a dramatic racial shift in the neighborhood. Norma's parents were Jamaican immigrants and her husband, Robert Lee is Chinese American. She was active with her neighborhood block association and describes the contributions and improvements made by African American neighbors to their homes. In later years, renters moved into the neighborhood, families often sharing what used to be single family homes.
