Description: Jean Bartelt looks back on how the ethnic makeup of her neighborhood has changed, beginning with two Jewish families moving in in the 1950s. In the 1960s, a real estate company provoked racial panic and many white residents moved out of the area. Now, Jean describes her block as "wonderfully diverse," with Hispanic, Caribbean, white, and Asian residents living side by side.
