Description: Mr. and Mrs. McQuilling built one of the original homes in the Waldheim neighborhood in Flushing, Queens. Mr. McQuilling was originally from New Orleans and had been a merchant seaman and later an executive for Shell oil company. Mrs. McQuilling was from Connecticut. Their daughter, Annalou, describes dinner at her house always including both rice (for her father) and potatoes (for her mother). The knickers Mr. McQuilling wears here were a gift from a friend, meant for playing golf. He disliked golf, but enjoyed wearing the knickers around the house.
