Description: Growing up in Bangor Maine, Shifra Garber always was surrounded by community values and tradition. Now almost 30 years later she still holds on to all these values and traditions. Every week she still cooks her traditional Challah, chicken soup, gefilte fish and other dishes. Not only did she get these dishes from her mother but some dishes she cooked for her family on her own. Her mother in law also passed down to her cooking tips and meals. Shifra takes into account not only the taste of the dishes but also the health aspect and the Jewish restrictions for cooking. Shifra describes the many traditional dishes she cooks, some Jewish customs and values, and last but not least a couple of very entertaining stories.
