In her oral history interview, Mario Antonetti's daughter, Viola Knors, recalls her father's career in the restaurant business in Queens, starting with a job at the 1939 World's Fair. She said he worked as the chef, a waiter, or the owner in a series of restaurants and recalls going as a child to help out in the evenings.
