Description: Jesus Pineiro, who was born in Puerto Rico and raised on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, learned to cook from his mother by phone once he moved away from home. He describes his methods for making yellow rice, beans and arepas - some of the most common foods in his family. He says he cooks with less fat and more meat now that he lives in the United States.
