Description: Frank Goldstein was born in 1896 on Madison street, Lower East Side. His parents emigrated to the U.S. from Vilna, Russia. He was the second child of five. In 1906, the family moved to Hurleyville, New York, in the Catskills region (also known at the time as "the borscht belt:), where his father purchased land with a house and a lake on it and turned it into a successful summer resort called "The Morningside", Franks father was a plumber and it was one of the first hotels in the area to have plumbing instead of outhouses [Catskill Culture: A Mountain Rat's Memories of the Great Jewish Resort Area]. A fire in 1942 destroyed the hotel. from 1966 - 1974, he was employed by the Office of the Registrar at Queens College. He pioneered the "Information Service Center" there. He was a Queens College employee in the 1960s and 70s, especially during the war protests of that time period (which he talks about).
