Description: Queens native and amateur photographer, Bernie Gellman took this black and white photo of Oakland Lake surrounded by trees. Oakland Lake was originally designated Mill Pond. Its name was later changed to Oakland Lake in the 19th century because of many oak trees around the pond area.
