Description: Claremont Terrace - Four mansions of Clermont Terrace and house adjacent to St. James Ave. east of Broadway. Samuel Lord of the firm Lord & Taylor built these houses in 1850. In 1873 they were occupied by from the left: No. 1, Smith; No. 2, Dr. J.C. Wright & Dr. G.P. Wright; No. 3, W.S. Wood; No. 4, Hyatt. Dr. Booth was in the house close to Broadway & St. James Ave. In May 1929 only the northernmost mansion (No. 1) and the Dr. Booth House at St. James Ave. were standing. In the winter 1924-25 Stores were built in front of these homes.
