Description: St. James Episcopal Church - The "old" New St. James Protestant Episcopal Church, 84-07 Broadway (right), and rectory (left) on the NE corner of Broadway and Corona Ave. The Church was built in 1848 and consecrated Nov. 15, 1849, on a site of a house donated in 1761 by Jacob Ogden of Jamaica, which was a bequest by William Sackett for a Church. The church was enlarged & reopened on March 30, 1871. The church burned to the ground when vandals set several fires on Oct. 11, 1975, and a new church was erected.
