Description: Elbert Luyster House - (aka Gus Bushatzkes Terminal Hotel) Located near the North Beach Trolley Terminal on Old Bowery Bay Road. Elbert Luyster (1693-1758), son of Cornelius, bought part of his father’s farm at Poor Bowery in 1723, including Luyster's Island, which Abraham Rapalje Luyster occupied in 1852. The house was then owned by Elbert’s son Garrett Luyster (d.1787); then his son Cornelius (1758-1816) bought in 1788, except for the Island; Abraham Rapalje Luyster 1852; L. Douglas 1873; by 1907 it was Gus Bushatzkes Terminal Hotel. The buildings were gone by November 1933.
