Description: Betts Homestead - View looking NW at the Betts family houses, barn, and out-buildings. At left is the old red shingled Thomas H. Betts house at 58th lane south of Laurel Hill Boulevard; in the center background just visible behind a barn is the new Betts House on the north side of Laurel Hill Boulevard east of 58th Street (Old Betts Avenue), this area was known as Winfield Hill. The Betts family was a prominent Newtown family; this land was first settled by Captain Richard Betts, who came from England with a colony of Puritans, in 1651. Photograph taken May 1923.
