Description: Rapelje Mansion. Built in 1790 by Jacobus Riker, whos daughter, Maria married Cornelius Rapelje. Building was razed and the property is now part of the Astoria Houses.; hand written on back of print: Built by Jacobus Riker cornelius Rapelje married 1780 Maria Riker daughter of Jacobus Riker and on returning from Nova Scotia to Newtown after place was restored he took charge of the "red Tavern" (the other building peak) His daughter Grace b 1782 married John Trafford Cornelius Rapelje grandson of above Cornelius Rapelje lived here until his death in 1890 Rapelye Mansion 29 Main St opp Greenwood on grounds between Main + Fluton Streets east of Boulevard Astoria red shingled built ab 1780 LIC 1922
