Description: Mr. Roe poses in his motorized ice scooter on an unidentified roadway. This model was an improvement over one he'd designed and built the year before. Shaped like an ordinary catboat, the "Glorifier" was 40 feet overall and equipped with a 20-horsepower engine. It could be used as a motorboat in the summer with the attachment of a shaft and propeller. When the Glorifier ran into open water, and its captain wanted to get onto the ice again, he would throw out a grappling device and haul the scooter onto the ice by means of a windlass aboard the craft.
