Description: "The Hermit and His home, Far Rockaway, L.I." - On the back of the postcard it is typed: The Hermit and His home, Far Rockaway, L.I.; The story is that this man was at one time an engineer on the Long Island Rail Road, but someone double crossed him with his lady love. He lived here for 19 years. This card was posted from Far Rockaway on July 23, 1909 with a one cent stamp and personal message on the back.; Dear Uncle Abe, I am having a very nice time. Excuse me for not writing sooner. Am coming home on Monday. Best love from, Madeline
