Guide to the Exempt Firemen’s Association of Flushing Financial Records 1916-1924 Control # E-1
Description: The collection is a very small one and consists principally of one type of record only, financial. These records cover the years 1916-1924 (one item may be dated 1897) and for the most part are made up of receipted bills. Some of the earlier dated items have clipped to them, the check (cancelled, of course) used to pay the bill, said checks bearing the rubber stamp either "Special Fund" or "General Fund". Bills were for various services rendered or materials supplied, and include insurance bills, postal expenses, expenses connected with parades, the supplying of fuels, and the like. Besides the bills, there are two check books (marked "Special Funds”), said books containing check stubs indicating to whom and for what reason checks were made. Also included is a virtually unused receipt book used by the Treasurer of the Association to be issued for payments received from the Association's Financial Secretary. The check books measure approximately 7x8 ¼. The receipt book is 8 ½ x 3 ½.
