Description: Dress of about 1750 - Shows the use of rich brocaded materials in the costumes of this period. The bodice and overskirt are of yellow flowered brocade and the quilted petticoats is the blue satin. The bodice is tightly fitted, with a low square neck and a lapel-like fold from shoulder to the bottom of the bodice making a vest effect. The sleeves are elbow length with a wide cuff caught at the forearms with horizontal pleats. The full overskirt, worn over hoops, is put on to the bodice with pleats facing back.
