Gladys Weaver Clip 1: Dramatic Changes in Jamaica
Collection: Gladys Weaver Oral History
Description: Gladys Weaver (nee Simpkins) moved as a child to Jamaica, Queens and moved into a nearby co-op in 1952 soon after her marriage to John Weaver. Mrs. Weaver describes how Jamaica has changed during her lifetime. She worked at the Silvercup Bakery in Long Island City (now Silvercup Studios). Today, she laments that much of Jamaica's cohesion as a community has now eroded.
