New York State Comptroller’s Office Letters
Description: This small collection consists only of nine letters or other documents addressed to the New York State Comptroller's Office. As such, they can probably be considered official state archives items. The letters are dated from 1834 to 1845. In one or two instances, the documents are not actually addressed to the Comptroller but the term is either used in the body of the document, or it is reasonable to assume that the subject at hand dealt with that office. Apparently no one central subject is dealt with, and more than one individual or firm is involved. All documents apparently originated in Brooklyn, for that is the place name found on them. Nothing is known of the provenance of these items, and it is likely that they were collected by someone, based on the general subject - Brooklyn.
